Overview
OpenAPI MCP is a Model Context Protocol server written in Go that turns any OpenAPI specification into AI-callable tools. Point it at a spec file and it exposes linting, validation, and documentation rendering capabilities that AI assistants can invoke directly — bridging the gap between REST APIs and language models.
The server operates in two modes: MCP stdio mode for integration with AI assistants like Claude, and HTTP mode for web-based access with Redoc-powered documentation rendering. It supports both JSON and YAML spec files, performs real-time validation with always up-to-date results, and handles port conflicts with automatic selection.
Built with a clean Go architecture, the server reads spec files dynamically rather than caching stale copies, serves OpenAPI specs as HTTP endpoints to avoid filesystem API issues, and provides comprehensive linting against OpenAPI best practices — making it a practical bridge between API documentation and AI-powered development workflows.
